Executive Profile
Stronger people. Smarter systems. Better outcomes.
Executive leader with more than three decades of experience building strategic partnerships, developing high-performing teams, and driving measurable organizational growth across higher education, workforce development, business development, marketing, digital visibility, and operations.
I step into complex environments, find the gaps between people, process, and performance, and build practical systems that move organizations forward. That includes connecting established SEO strategy with AI Optimization (AIO), so organizations and their expertise can be discovered, understood, and trusted across traditional search and AI-powered platforms. My work is grounded in relationships, clear expectations, and results that can be measured.
Executive Biography
Building stronger organizations by connecting people, purpose, and performance.
Krista Stalcup—known through her executive brand as Krista Sunshine—is a transformation-oriented leader with more than three decades of experience building teams, departments, partnerships, revenue, and practical operating systems. Her career spans sales, marketing, business development, higher education, workforce development, customer operations, insurance, and financial services. Across those environments, her value has remained consistent: she sees how the whole organization fits together, identifies the gaps slowing progress, and brings people around a clear plan that produces measurable movement.
Her leadership foundation began early. Working from age thirteen, Krista learned professionalism, discipline, customer care, and personal accountability long before they became executive-language talking points. Experiences at The Broadmoor, in lifeguarding, competitive athletics, modeling, and multi-location sales management taught her to read people, adapt quickly, and understand that every organization is ultimately experienced through the quality of its relationships.
At MCI WorldCom, Krista developed her sales-leadership foundation through coaching, forecasting, customer acquisition, and performance management, earning three Top of the Rockies recognitions. At Ford Motor Credit, she added loss prevention, account recovery, mentoring, controls, and Six Sigma process improvement to her operating perspective. Her work at USAA deepened her judgment in regulated, high-stakes customer environments through property and auto claims, total loss, catastrophe response, coverage analysis, negotiation, documentation, and member advocacy.
Krista’s ability to build from the ground up became especially visible at Corinthian Colleges and Everest Online. She helped create a 50-person reentry and retention organization—including staffing, workflows, training, performance metrics, reporting, and escalation paths—and contributed to reducing student attrition from approximately 45 percent to under 10 percent within eight months. The work required more than process design. It required listening closely, diagnosing barriers, coaching people through change, and creating accountability without losing sight of the human beings behind the numbers.
As Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing for BusinessCheckup.info, Krista helped build a startup sales, marketing, strategic accounts, and client-services operation that generated $865,000 in first-year revenue. She led five national business-development executives, directed a $750,000 marketing budget, and supported engagements ranging from $20,000 to $3 million. Her work connected consultative selling, digital and traditional media, brand strategy, SEO and SEM, events, client relationships, and disciplined follow-through. That foundation now informs her approach to AI Optimization (AIO): structuring credible, useful content so organizations are discoverable through both conventional search and AI-powered answer tools.
Most recently, as Director of Career Services for Southern Technical College, Krista led employer engagement, placement strategy, career education, events, reporting, externship support, and student-success initiatives serving more than 600 students and graduates. She built and sustained more than 1,000 relationships with employers, healthcare organizations, businesses, workforce partners, and community leaders; coordinated up to 16 career fairs annually; led Career Services through six ACCSC reporting cycles in which published employment outcomes reached 94 percent in Medical Assisting, 85 percent in HVAC, and 86 percent in Veterinary Assisting; and was selected to train newly appointed Career Services Directors across seven Florida colleges.
Krista leads with directness, warmth, curiosity, and quiet confidence. She believes authenticity creates trust, relationships create opportunity, and leadership should leave people and organizations more capable than before. She is equally comfortable building a department, coaching a developing leader, speaking with a board or executive team, evaluating a brand or growth strategy, working through operational complexity, and using practical AI tools to improve research, communication, workflow design, and decision-making.
Based in Tampa Bay, Krista is focused on executive leadership, strategic partnerships, organizational growth, workforce innovation, speaking, advisory work, and board service. She is not interested in maintaining systems simply because they already exist. She is drawn to organizations ready to grow with intention, strengthen execution, develop their people, and create meaningful opportunity—and she measures success by whether she leaves every organization brighter than she found it.
